Start of the Spring Semester

Dear Stormy Petrels,

Welcome to the first day of classes for the spring semester! The faculty and staff value your presence in our community, and we are eager to witness all your successes throughout your academic journey!

Throughout the pandemic, we have operated under two guiding principles: (1) health and safety of our campus community and (2) educational access for student success. As in previous semesters, we continually monitor the state of affairs in relation to COVID-19 in our university and surrounding community.

We press ahead to fulfill our academic mission—one that is grounded in teaching excellence and elevated by our diverse and inclusive community. We will continue to foster a deep sense of engagement, belonging, and persistence, which are core to who we are. We also will remain steadfast in finding ways to strengthen our connections with each other and the broader communities in which we learn, work, and live.

I welcome this new semester of learning and growth and I am glad you are here with us. I encourage you to leverage every opportunity that allows you to pursue your academic goals, make memories, and thrive.

Best,
Nick Ladany, Ph.D.
